Additional drillings in connection with groundwater surveillance for the tunnel Ruckhalde, St. Gallen

In connection with the tunnelling work for the tunnel Ruckhalde in St. Gallen, which will be taken up by the Appenzeller Bahnen AG from winter 2014/2015 onwards, the groundwater level has to be lowered on a larger scale. Our office has been attending to the geological-hydrogeological aspects of this project since 2006 and now we are also able to supervise the surveillance measures for this lowering of the groundwater level.

Field investigations in the landslide area „Ober Weidist“, Altstätten (SG), concluded for now

In connection with the big landslide Weidist above Altstätten in canton St. Gallen comprehensive field and lab investigations were carried out in the last months. These have now been concluded. Among other things, 3 rotational core drillings down to a depth of 70 m, comprehensive geodetic measurements, analysis of high resolution aerial images taken by drones, C14-dating and inclinometer measurements were carried out. This enables us now to get a clear picture about the sliding mechanism and the resulting consequences.

Geological-hydrogeological clarifications in landslide area “Ober Weidist”, Altstätten (SG)

At the beginning of June 2013, a bigger landslide occurred in the area of Ober Weidist in Altstätten in connection with heavy rainfalls during that period. More than 1 million cubic meters of soil slid off and destroyed grazing land, barns and forest. In the past weeks, we have observed this area regularly and have made a proposition to the town of Altstätten of how to proceed with a risk analysis and an evaluation of the damage potential. We have now been assigned to carry out the proposed investigations. This in collaboration with the office of Andres Geotechnik AG, St. Gallen.

Geothermal energy usage for residential building complex in Dübendorf (ZH) being clarified

The Mobimo Management AG, Küsnacht, is planning a major residential building complex on the Hochbordstrasse in Dübendorf. After we have already been appointed the geotechnical appraisal of the building project by the builder-owner, it shall now be clarified in the course of the conceptual energy supply planning to what degree the building can be heated by a geothermal probe field. The thermal rating thereby is approximately 750 kW.
