PFAS (per- and polyfluorinated alkyl compounds) are used in C&I applications in many different areas, for example in the manufacturing process of water-repellent textiles or as an additive in fire-fighting foams, but also in aviation processes, the photographic industry and electroplating. Furthermore, they are used as lubricants and impregnating substances as well as in many cosmetics.
The Swiss Air Rescue (REGA) is planning to expand its existing air base of operations in Mollis GL, Switzerland. In order to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions, it is envisaged to use thermal ground water to supply energy in form of heat to the new building.
Since autumn 2019, Grundbauberatung-Geoconsulting AG has been carrying out extensive investigations at a polluted site in Altstätten, focussing on the PFAS group of substances (perfluorinated and polyfluorinated chemicals), which has only recently become a topical issue in the field of contaminated site management.
On behalf of the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, we are currently carrying out investigations in connection with the large-scale landslide there.
Nine buildings with up to four upper floors are being built as part of the projected redevelopment of the city saw mill area in St. Gallen. In April 2022, Grundbauberatung - Geoconsulting AG was entrusted with supervising the geological, geotechnical and hydrogeological investigations for this project.
